Synopsis
Phone-addicted lifestyle influencer, Callie, is floating around LA with a modest social media following— looking for love, looking for a career change, searching for meaning in a digital world. Callie and her roommate-influencer-socialites can’t move past their constant addiction to their phones, and Callie can’t go a day without drowning under self-inflicted social anxiety. Out at a bar, coping with a recent dip in her follower count, Callie meets Leo, a carefree rebel, disconnected from the modern world. After they accidentally pee on each other in an alley way they are forced into an awkward walk home along the beach. They have nothing in common. The next day, Callie is yet-again stood up on a date by a mediocre dude. Leo coincidentally appears and sits down across from her, saving her from the embarrassment of dinner alone. By the end of their dinner, Leo challenges Callie to go on a date with him phone-free, though she has no romantic interest in Leo, her roommates convince her it is the perfect narrative to give her social media the new boost it needs. After a series of romantic dates, Leo opens Callie up to a whole new world — the “real” world — the world that exists right in front of her eyes, when her head is not buried in her phone. But soon their fantasy dwindles, and the magic fades when Callie realizes how flawed Leo’s fantasy is… in reality. After confronting real life, Leo’s conflicted past, and Callie’s obsession with other people’s opinions about her — they have to make a decision as to whether they can really change to fit into each other’s lives… or give up because opposites just can’t attract.
