Logline

When a video game developer becomes the target of someone he wronged, he ends up in the fight for his life.

Synopsis

Steve Rosey is using VR to play a video game, when it suddenly glitches. As he goes to look at strings of code, a bullet zips through the back of his neck. He lies dead on the floor.

Spencer Bradford, the self-absorbed owner of a video game company, goes back and forth over new design sketches. Spencer’s partner and closest friend, Zhang, works to hire two more coders to finish their next big game by the holidays. Meanwhile in a motel room, Connor Dante, an experienced coder with an agenda, hacks Steve’s posthumous social media, labeling him as an intellectual property thief. Disturbed by Steve’s death, Spencer explains to his girlfriend, Molly, that the way Steve died was the same way to kill the villain in the game they had designed together, a hack only himself and Steve knew.

At the office, Spencer hires two new coders Kyle and none other than Connor Dante. When Kyle becomes the new favorite coder, Connor hacks Spencer’s social media and bank accounts, pinning it all on Kyle who is immediately fired. When Beth gives Connor praise for some of his own video game designs, his new goal is not only to kill Spencer, but to take his entire lifestyle. Zhang finds loopholes in Connor’s application and becomes suspicious of his intentions, but Spencer dismisses his concerns.

Murder, hacking and theft is pinned on Spencer, but his alibi proves his innocence.
Spencer still resigns from the company. As two kids play the new game in their basement, it glitches. The screen characters are engulfed in flames with text reading: “Spencer Bradford stole my game. He should burn in hell.”
