ER doc Jessica loves her job, but not the hours. Meeting Trevor in Fiji, Jessica also strikes up a friendship with Will, co-owner of their resort. As Jessica notices how Trevor is a workaholic, she also sees that Will offers tranquility.
Synopsis
Widowed Dr. Jessica Martin, an ER physician at Riverside Hospital in Portland, Oregon, has contemplated going into private general practice to be able to set her own hours instead of the sixty hour weeks she currently works, all in an effort to spend more time with her shy teenage daughter, Ava Martin. As Jessica and Ava are about to head off on a vacation to Yanuca Cove Resort in Fiji, a place close to Jessica's heart as where she once lived, where she and her now deceased husband Greg met and got married, and where they had once contemplated making their home, Jessica learns that she is in the running for the soon to be vacated position of attending ER physician, which is a prestigious promotion, but would increase rather than decrease her work hours. Jessica and Ava both have an agenda for their Fiji vacation, ticking off the boxes of things to do, to spend time together and break out of their collective shells. At the resort, Jessica ends up making a connection to two men, who may vie for her affections during and after the vacation. The first is guest, surgeon Dr. Trevor Copeland, the two who had casually met before at a conference. The second is one of the resort's hands-on co-owners, Will. Through her and Ava's time at the resort with Trevor, Will and others, Jessica may come to some realizations about her and Ava's life and what may be the next best move professionally and personally, which takes into account Will's three word golden rule - no dating guests - and her and Ava's immediate priority of making it back to Portland in time for her co-worker and best friend Karen's delivery of her first baby as Karen is all alone with her military husband posted overseas.
